ANGELES CITY – Here’s a case of a suspect who lived to tell his tale virtually unscathed after resisting arrest and harming policemen out to arrest him on the night of January 10.

The suspect, identified as Ryan Simbulan Dayrit, 35, who was eventually apprehended, turned out to be a wanted person for murder and robbery in nearby Dau, Mabalacat City.

Earlier, Dayrit tried to choke a GRO named Missy, 21, from the Cloud Nine Bar in the Balibago district here which he frequented for about five nights before the incident.

The suspect reportedly wanted to take Missy out but she refused prompting him to slap and choke her. Missy immediately sought police assistance after the incident and responding policemen were able to catch up with the suspect in a nearby convenient store where he was charging his smart phone.

According to the spot report of Police Station 4, Dayrit “physically harmed the responding lawmen” but with the help of barangay officials in Balibago, he was subdued and brought to the police station.

It turned out that Dayrit was a wanted man for the killing of his live-in partner identified as Idelmira L. Quiazon, 52, on December 7, 2017.

Quiazon was found strangled to death on her bed by her daughter while her valuables, including a vault, were nowhere to be found.

According to Quiazon’s sister, Olivia Quiazon, 46, Dayrit stole jewelry and money from her sister after killing her.

The younger Quiazon said her sister had a big amount of cash in her vault because she lends money as her business and owns a 10-unit apartment building.

She also said her sister had jewelry which were all gone after she was found dead. Quiazon said her sister was introduced to Dayrit about a year ago.

She said Dayrit worked as a deejay in a bar in the Balibago district.

She narrated that after killing and robbing her sister, Dayrit frequented the bars where she later met Missy.

After his arrest, Quiazon said Missy returned a ring and a necklace belonging to her sister.

The cash was gone and the vault cannot be located, she said.

But the land titles were surrendered by Dayrit after his arrest.

Suspect’s confession A former forklift operator turned deejay in a local bar, Dayrit said he and the victim had a drinking session with neighbors on that night.

He said they consumed Emperador Lights and Red Horse beer.

But when they got home, she was jealous because he wanted to leave her already. Because he was drunk, he said he got tired of her nagging and accidentally choked her to death.

“I already asked forgiveness from her family,” said a sober Dayrit.

He admitted that he stole the victim’s jewelry and vault containing cash and several land titles.

He said after he was arrested, he returned the land titles to the victim’s family and some of the jewelry that he hasn’t pawned.

He also said the actual amount of cash he stole was only P115,000 which he spent in the bars.

According to arresting officer PO1 Jarnel Gill, he was with PO1 Gerard Pineda when they acted on the complaint of Missy.

He said when they tried to apprehend Dayrit, he resisted arrest but he was eventually subdued.

Dayrit underwent inquest proceedings on Thursday and is currently detained at Police Station 4 or Salakot police station here.
