ANGELES CITY— More than 1,000 Aetas in Barangay Sapang Bato were the beneficiaries of a global clothing company’s “10 Million Ways to Help” campaign.
On Friday, Japanese global clothing retail brand “Uniqlo” visited the said Aeta community here to donate clothes and food as it continues to make the good life of Filipinos better this Holiday season by giving back to the community.
Tomo Yoshikawa, head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Uniqlo in the ASEAN region; Georgette Barrera-Jalasco, Marketing Director of Uniqlo Philippines; and Camille Pacis, Senior Public Relations Manager, led the distribution of clothes that Uniqlo customers and employees have donated for the Aeta community.
Each of the more than 200 family- representatives were given a 10-minute chance to select five items from an assortment of shirts, pants and other accessories just like shopping in a Uniqlo store sans the payment.
Carmen Miranda, who selected pants and shirt for her husband and children, was one of the first individuals to pick Uniqlo clothing items.
Yoshikawa said the project has been a part of Uniqlo’s CSR for almost 10 years now which is also being held in different countries.
Uniqlo encouraged its employees and customers to bring lightly-used clothing to its stores around Metro Manila for donation to the Aeta communities.
This reinforces the commitment of Uniqlo to uphold its promise to society and achieve growth that is sustainable for both the company and society at large, Uniqlo said.
