Widus new chef whips up culinary storm

    CLARK FREEPORT – “I want to try something different out of the box.”

    Thus, newly appointed Widus Hotel and Casino executive chef Shanmuganathan “Shan” Marimuthu whipped up a storm of culinary fare for the Salt Restaurant’s buffet sampled by media on Friday.

    Chef Shan said it’s his first time in the Philippines and had stayed here for less than a week but already, he has laid out a menu of delectable selections of international and local cuisines.

    The Malaysian national who has worked all over the world – Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, New York, Washington, Mexico, Brunei and Singapore – said he came to the Philippines to experience the culture and the passion of the people and give it a shot in this part of the world.

    The buffet offers international cuisines with a twist of Asia and “more on traditional things.”

    Chef Shan is now in charge of overseeing and managing the daily operations of all six food and beverage outlets at the hotel and shares with the Widus family over 25 years of hospitality and culinary experience in world-class kitchens across Asia and the Middle East, including Grand Hyatt Southeast Asia, Park Hyatt Hyderabad, InterContinental Hotel Doha, InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut, InterContinental Taiwan and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts.
