Mulcting ‘NBI agents’ arrested

    ANGELES CITY – A group of six men bearing various National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) paraphernalia including fake badges were arrested in a bar along Friendship Road in Barangay Malabanias here on Monday.

    Lee Ji Hoon, Korean desk of the city police, called the provincial office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) based in Barangay Pampang here and reported that a group of men identifying themselves as NBI agents were conducting random inspection of Korean establishments specifically at the Hwangjini KTV Bar and Don’t Tell My Mama KTV Bar for violation of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law, extorting money and drinking liquor without paying their bills.

    Acting on Lee’s complaint, the CIDG formed a team led by Chief Insp. Ferdinand Aguilar and upon coordination with the Angeles City Police Office Station 4 led by PO2 Marvin Stanley B. Castro, PO2 Victoriano M. Ulep III and PO1 Argel R.

    Cabote conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of one Edgar Allan Rivera who yielded a .45 Colt pistol with live ammo without proper documentation.

    This led to the arrest of the other suspects who claimed to be NBI agents based in Nueva Ecija.

    They were identified as Javier O. Roque who was lugging a .40 Taurus pistol with live ammo, Lito S. Valdez who yielded a .45 pistol and live ammo and Teofilo P. Soriano who yielded a .45 Llama pistol Minimax II with live ammo and a .45 Armscor pistol.

    Two other men were nabbed inside a maroon Mitsubishi Adventure (DVG 499) parked nearby.

    They were identified as Jeffrey D. Alipio and Jonathan C. Obedoza.

    The pieces of evidence were turned over to the PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic and macro etching examination.

    The six men were charged with violation of RA 10591 or the Illegal Possession of Firearms Law and other pertinent charges at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
