ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, who just turned 65 years old on Sunday, led government officials in the opening of the new wing of the Rafael Lazatin Medical Center (RLMC), formerly Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) here yesterday.
The new P50-million two-storey RLMC annex building boasts of an intensive monitoring ward and trauma center which is separate from the hospital’s emergency room. Pamintuan said the trauma center provides comprehensive emergency services to patients suffering from traumatic injuries like severe accident victims.
The mayor said the trauma center is even equipped with modern medical equipment like a C X-ray machine.
The new RLMC building has 28 private rooms and an isolation room. It also houses a chemotherapy infusion section, an ophthalmology section, a cardiology section, the Hospital Administrator’s Office, Chief of Clinics Office, Chief Nurse’s Office and a Mayor’s Desk.
Dr. Antonio Dizon, hospital administrator, said the new hospital building has two nurses stations as well as seven outpatient clinic offices. Pamintuan said the new hospital wing is another major achievement of the city in terms of improving public health care services targeting indigent Angeleños.
He said the money for its construction was originally intended for a sports complex in the previous administration but was realigned by the city council for the construction of the new hospital wing.
“We began in our previous term with the renal care unit, the Barangay Days and the Medikalinga, and now this monitoring ward and trauma center will further boosts our intention to bolster our city’s medical services," Pamintuan said.
He added that the Angeleños should look forward to several other improvements in the RLMC including another annex, which will accommodate more patients.
