ANGELES CITY – It was a celebration of everything and anything Korean at the SM City Clark here last week.

Korean bazaars and the “K-Star gallery” were opened to the public offering different kinds of clothes and accessories. Koreans, who now qualify as the top investors of the nearby Clark Freeport Zone and easily the top expatriates in this city, came in droves at the mall eliciting a comment from a local: “It’s like seeing a piece of Korea.”

Doppelgangers of Korean pop stars had a heyday as a “Look-a-Like Photo Contest” was held for the K-pop stars’ local dead ringers. During the week-long event, a kimchi-eating contest was also held at the new Event Center of the mall where Filipino gormandizers experienced the traditional Korean dish.

Kimchi is the spicy fermented Korean side dish made of vegetables and a variety of seasoning, Seoul’s Bibimbob was also a hit among the locals who celebrated the Korean festival at the mall.

Korean inspired music filled the air as the Ang- Cle Orchestra performed great Korean songs as well as the MMJ Magno and the Upgrade. – With Alexandra Eunice Basa and Rodanne Ramos,
