MALOLOS CITY – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bulacan declared an all out support to Board Member Romeo Allan Robes through a resolution citing that he is a man of honor and peace.
However, despite non-restriction imposed on him, Robes did not attend the regular session of the SP on Tuesday afternoon.
This came after he posted bail on Monday after he was charged with homicide for killing the ex-boyfriend of his mother-in-law and former Quezon City Rep. Nanette Castelo-Daza on Friday night.
After the session yesterday, Vice Governor Daniel Fernando told Punto that Robes is now home with his family.
He said that a resolution declaring an all out support to the board member is the least they can do.
The resolution was introduced by Board Member Enrique Dela Cruz and was approved by all member of the board present during Tuesday’s session.
He said that Robes was supposed to attend the regular session of the SP but decided not to come.
“Mukhang may aftershock, pero baka next week nandito na siya,” Fernando said.
Earlier, Board Member Michael Fermin said the SP is ready to welcome Robes back.
“He has not been convicted of any crime yet, he is welcome to join the session,” fellow provincial Board Member Michael Fermin said referring to Robes.
He said that the SP is supporting Robes in the belief that he defended himself, his pregnant wife Quezon City Councilor Jessica Daza and his mother-in-law when he shot the former lawmaker’s estranged boyfriend Noel Orate.
“We know Allan as a peaceful man and he will not do what he did unless he is defending himself and his family especially his unborn child,” Fermin said.
He added that Robes might take a brief break after the traumatic experience, but the Provincial Board has no plans of imposing it.
Elected in 2010 as provincial board member representing the fourth district of Bulacan, Robes was charged with homicide after he shot and killed Orate at Daza-Castelo’s house in Quezon City last week.
Fermin said that Robes was released by the police on Monday after posting bail.
He said that he met Robes on Monday and noted that the board member is cooperating with the police.
Fermin also said that Robes pregnant wife is alright.
On Sunday, the Daza-Castelo family held a press conference and said that they were held hostage by the drunk Orate.
However, Orate’s family is crying for justice and demanded an investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation.
