CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Two Chinese nationals were arrested and illicit laundry softener products worth some P1.2 million were seized during the serving of a search warrant at a warehouse in San Simon, Pampanga on Oct. 12.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region, in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration, the Philippine Air Force, and the military intelligence unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines implemented the search warrant for violation of for violation of RA 3720 (Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act) as amended by RA 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009) at a warehouse in Brgy. San Isidro, San Simon town.

A report CIDG director MGen. Robert AA Morico II said the two arrested Chinese nationals identified as the incorporator and supervisor of the chemical manufacturing corporation were “caught while in possession and control, storing, and selling laundry fabric softener products that are not duly registered and without License to Operate (LOA) from the Food and Drug Administration.”

Citing RA 9711, Morico said the manufacture, importation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer of health, food products and consumer products without the required authorization from the authorities is prohibited.

Buying and using unregistered laundry fabric softeners poses major risks because these products bypass official safety regulations, quality checks, and mandatory ingredient disclosures.

Morico commended CIDG-NCR led by Col. John K. Guiagui for the operation that underscored the unit’s commitment in protecting every consumer by implementing the laws, and arresting the violators. CIDG-NCR/Punto News Team
