P430-M CIGARETTES ABANDONED IN SUBIC DESTROYED

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Disposal proceedings against P430-million worth of assorted brands of cigarettes inside abandoned 40 10-foot containers in Subic were undertaken Tuesday afternoon by the Bureau of Customs Port of Subic, in coordination with key government agencies and port officials.

The contraband was first shredded and then incinerated at the Legacy 88 Recyclable Materials Collection Services in Santa Maria, Bulacan, following the official declaration of abandonment under Section 1129 (b) of RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

Present during the disposal were officials of BOC-Subic, National Tobacco Administration, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry. Punto News Team/Screengrab from BOC-Subic social media page
