MALOLOS CITY—Bulacan’s bid for the world’s longest pastillas is not over yet after staging a 202.6 meter long pastillas on Friday which remained to be confirmed and certified by the Guinness Book of World Records.
“We have successfully staged 202.6 meters long pastillas,” Gov. Joselito Mendoza said after the measurement was certified by Dr. Hjordis Maruska Celis, directress of the Bulacan Medical Center, Ronaldo Tiotico, director of Tourism in Central Luzon and Engr. Victory Fernandez of Aklan, and president of the Provincial Engineers Association of the Philippines (PEAP).
The said measurement was longer than the planned 200 meter carabao milk candy with five inches in diameter that was conceived as an entry to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Some 200 Bulakenyos from different sectors joined hands to prepare the longest pastillas that weighed 4,000 kilos from the 12,800 liters of carabao’s milk and 1,600 kilos of white sugar.
Mendoza said that the documentation of the feat will be submitted to Guinness office in London for certification and inclusion into its Book of World Records.
The provincial government applied to the Guinness Book of World Record, “it’s an attempt through online registration on July 23.”
The Guinness World Records reportedly acknowledged the application for the longest pastillas bid on August 8 and released guidelines on August 12.
On August 15, the provincial government started the official countdown for the world’s longest pastillas that coincide with the province’ 430th anniversary.
