UNC-Bataan opens 4 college courses

    DINALUPIHAN, Bataan: The University of Nueva Caceres (UNC)–Bataan on Tuesday announced the opening of four college courses for the first semester this year in its one-hectare campus here.

    Felicito Payumo, UNC– Bataan president, said the four courses acknowledged by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) are Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems, Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Bachelor of Arts and Communication.

    Industrial Engineering opens next year, he said.

    Payumo is former chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and the Bases Conversion Development Authority after being threeterm congressman of Bataan’s first district.

    The college courses are in addition to the school’s program offerings in pre-elementary, elementary, junior high school and senior high school.

    Courses in the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) are also offered.

    These are Shielded Metal Arc Welding NCI, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NCII, Food and Beverage Services NCII, Housekeeping NCII, Front Office NCII, Agricultural Crop Production NCI and Computer System Servicing NCII. Pipefitting and electrical courses will soon be added.

    Fernando Manalili, school administrator, said UNC– Bataan has two buildings of four floors each with classrooms all airconditioned.

    It has a spacious covered court and an exclusive building for TESDA courses. It has various facilities for learning enhancement like laboratories for computer, speech, science, food and beverage, housekeeping, agriculture crop production, chemistry, biology and front office.

    An attendance monitoring system with texting capability is in place that monitors daily attendance of children. The school started in 2014 with 313 children attending toddler level to Grade 7 that increased to 434 in 2015 (toddler to Grade 10); 669 in 2016 (toddler to Grade 11) and 971 in 2017 (toddler to Grade 12).

    Owned and operated by Bataan Peninsula Education Institution, Inc., UNC–Bataan campus sits in the site of the former Northern Bataan Institute adjacent to the national road in Dinalupihan. It is a branch of the 70-year-old UNC in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
