The mayor, youngest in Bataan at 23 years old, said their sangguniang bayan will be passing a resolution of their desired tie-up with the fast-growing FAB with the near-completion of the 44-kilometer Bagac–Mariveles road.
Del Rosario said FAB, former Bataan Export Processing Zone, is only about 25 kilometers to their town’s industrial area of 190 hectares.
Barangays under the declared industrial area are Paysawan, Quinawan and Binuangan which are all on the left side of the four-lane road.
The right side of the road noted for sandy beaches is reserved for eco-tourism projects.
“Our target is the downstream industries that will create employment and will cause small businesses around to grow with the overflow of investments from FAB,” municipal administrator Nick Ancheta said.
As of December 31, 2017, the 1,700-hectare Freeport has 128 multinational fi rms operating with 37,455 workers.
Bagac is a third-class municipality that has an annual revenue of P110 million, including the internal revenue allotment.
Along with Morong town, Bagac is known for its sandy beaches adjacent to the West Philippines Sea.
