BALANGA CITY — Heavy rains hit Bataan on Wednesday adding up to the flood problem caused by high tide in some seaside villages in this component city.

Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia suspended classes in all levels, both public and private, in 11 towns and one city in an advisory issued at 12 noon.

The Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has raised the yellow warning in Bataan.

Zeny Garcia, a retired public high school teacher, said barangays Puerto Rivas Ibaba and Puerto Rivas Itaas have been flooded for the fifth day. Residents said portions of Barangay Tortugas were also with flood waters.

Jun-Jun Santos, tricycle driver, said rains added up to the flood that he said affected their livelihood. Residents were seen walking through the flooded streets that tricycles could no longer pass.

“Sana magawan ng paraan ng gobyerno itong baha, perhuwisyo kasi, the tricycle driver said.

Teacher Garcia said they have been plagued by the same problem for many years. She said that the city government has repaired the barangay road, increasing the elevation for three times but the problem existed.
