CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Department of Education (DepEd) has confirmed that Central Luzon is fully prepared for the June 8 opening of classes.
This, as the region recorded 2.85 million enrollees across 5,193 schools, the second highest nationwide, underscoring the scale of preparations undertaken for the new school year.
DepEd Assistant Regional Director Jessie Amin said preparations have been completed across key operational areas, including enrollment management, school readiness activities, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring smooth opening of classes across the region.

“We are now ready for the opening of classes on June 8, 2026. Preparations have been completed in terms of enrollment, school readiness activities, and stakeholder coordination across the region,” Amin said.
He added that continuous convergence with local government units, national government agencies, and community stakeholders played a crucial role in ensuring that schools are prepared to accommodate learners and deliver services efficiently.
DepEd reported that early registration for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners was implemented, while Grade 2-6, 8-10, and 12 are considered pre-registered ahead of the class opening.
In addition, Amin said that Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela initiatives are in full swing, which mobilize partners for classroom preparation, logistical support, and assistance in addressing school-level concerns.
“We are currently conducting Brigada Eskwela across 21 Schools Division Offices and more than 5,000 schools in Central Luzon, supported by multi-sectoral partners from government agencies, local government units, private organizations, and volunteers, including DOLE TUPAD beneficiaries,” the director noted.
On instructional readiness, the agency cited the ongoing implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum, supported by large-scale capacity-building efforts.
These include the training of 1,034 Division Trainers for Grade 9 and 10 (except TLE), 1,240 Division Trainers for Grade 9 and 10 TLE, and 267 additional trainers, as well as the upskilling of 32,555 teachers across Region 3 for Grades 6, 9, and 10.
The agency said these initiatives align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s education reform agenda, which emphasizes strengthening basic education, improving learning conditions, and enhancing access to quality education through a whole-of-government approach.
With all major preparations in place as of June 4, DepEd expressed confidence that schools across Central Luzon are ready to formally open classes on June 8. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
