Kapuso network dominates Kagitingan Awards for TV

    BALANGA CITY – GMA-7 on Friday night, eve of the 74th Araw ng Kagitingan, bagged the Pinakamagiting na Himpilang Pantelebisyon award during the 4th Kagitingan Awards for Television of the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), besting all other television stations in the country.

    GMA-7 and GMA News TV- 11 also got awards for nine of 10 Pinakamagiting na Personalidad na Pantelebisyon and nine out of 10 Pinakamagiting na Programang Pantelebisyon. Rival ABS-CBN only took two awards, one for Coco Martin and Probinsiyano for Drama Series category.

    Winners in the Pinakamagiting na Personalidad na Pantelebisyon are Michael V of Pepito Manaloto for comedy program (GMA 7), Alessandra De Rossi in Wagas for Drama Anthology (GMA News TV), Vic Sotto of Eat Bulaga for Variety program (GMA 7), Vicky Morales of Wish ko lang for Public Service program (GMA 7);

    Arnold Clavio of Tonight with Arnold Clavio for Talk Show (GMA News TV), Jessica Soho of State of the Nation for News program (GMA News TV), Mike Enriquez of Imbestigador for Investigative program (GMA 7), Jessica Soho in Kapuso mo Jessica Soho for Magazine program and Kara David of I-Witness for Documentary program.

    Dr. Remigio Sacdalan, Jr., BPSU director for arts & cultural affairs, said the 10 Pinakamagiting na Personalidad na Pantelebisyon award was only given this year “after the clamor of some sectors in the university.”

    Awardees in Pinakamagiting na Programang Pantelebisyon are Pepito Manaloto for Comedy program (GMA 7), Magpakailanman for Drama Anthology (GMA 7), Eat Bulaga for Variety program (GMA 7), Wish ko lang for Public Service program (GMA 7), Tonight with Arnold Clavio for Talk show (GMA News TV);

    GMA 7’s 24 Oras for News program, Imbestigador for Investigative program (GMA 7), Kapuso mo Jessica Soho for magazine program (GMA 7) and I-Witness for Documentary program (GMA 7.

    “Ipinagkakaloob ang Pinakamagiting na award dahil nagpapakita ang programa o personalidad ng isang mukha ng kagitingan na nagsislbing inspirasyon sa mga batang mag-aaral,” presenters said on the choice of the awardees.

    Dr. Gregorio Rodis, BPSU president, said the students made the choice of the winners.

    “Pinili ng mga estudyante ang mga programa sa telebisyon na nagbibigay-aral sa kanila na sa palagay nila ay magdudulot ng magandang halimbawa,” he said.

    “Nagpapakita ito na sa Bataan ay may kamulatan at pagpapahalaga sa tunay na values ng mass media para sa pagsulong pa ng ating pamayanan,” the university president said.

    Sacdalan said leaders of about 100 student organizations and publications made the choice after rigid consultations with their members.

    “Students belong to one or two organizations and I believe that the student leaders truly represent the 18,000-strong student population of BPSU in its six campuses in the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa and Abucay and the City of Balanga,” the award organizer said.

    “This is to honor the role of televisions in the value formation of students,” Sacdalan said.

    Balanga City Mayor lauded the BPSU and congratulated the awardees. “Magandang proyekto ito para malaman ng ating mga kababayan ang mga program sa telebisyon na karapatdapat na panoorin,” the mayor said.

    Awardings were held at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga.
