“As preventive measure against injury and lifetime regret for a lost body part, let us forego firecrackers,” the Bataan prelate said.
The bishop instead advised that the amount to be used in buying firecrackers be given to parishioners in need as a way of social services. “This is our corporal act of charity as we celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy,” he said.
Santos asked the people not to show gratefulness for the blessings of 2015 by exploding firecrackers.
“Let us share our blessings to others through our presence, prayers and performance of good deeds,” the bishop said.
