BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) strengthened inter-agency support and resource utilization after donating 70 cubic meters of logs to key government security and emergency response units in Bataan.

Through its Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in Bataan and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Pilar, DENR turned over the logs to the Philippine Army (PA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to augment their operational and logistical requirements.

Of the total volume, 10 cubic meters were allocated to BFP Orani, while 30 cubic meters each were distributed to the Charlie Company of the PA’s 84th Infantry Battalion, and the BJMP.

The logs, equivalent to more than 29,600 board feet, came from materials turned over to DENR through approved tree-cutting permits.

These will be utilized for lawful government purposes in line with existing environmental regulations.

DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Bataan chief Raul Mamac said the initiative reflects the agency’s commitment to responsible forest resource management while ensuring that recovered forest products benefit public service.

Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized that the donation demonstrates the effective maximization of government resources through strengthened collaboration among agencies.

“The DENR remains committed to the responsible and transparent use of forest products for the public good. Through strong partnerships with fellow government agencies, we help support community safety while reinforcing our shared responsibility to protect natural resources,” Pablo said.

The initiative aligns with the national government’s efforts to promote sustainable resource management and enhance the operational readiness of frontline agencies tasked to ensure public safety and security. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
