The Limay mayor said that San Miguel Global has invested in the construction of a 600 megawatt plant that started sometime in 2014 and to be finished next year.
Construction is in its first phase. “This early, there is already a plan to expand it to 900MGW,” Roque said.
Already operational are four units of power plants at 35MGW each or a total of 140MGW that support the power requirement of the Petron Bataan Refinery (PBR), he said. “The excess goes to the Luzon grid through the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines,” the mayor said.
All of these power plants are inside or adjacent to the PBR area. The combined cycle power plant that sits beside the defunct Bataan Thermal Power Plant is also in Limay.
In Mariveles, next town to Limay, is the 600MGW coal-fired power plant that is already operating.
