MARIVELES, Bataan– A strong earthquake shook big fishing boats  and jolted residents in  Bataan at past 3 in the morning of Sunday.

“Nagulat ako, medyo  natakot dahil gumagalaw,  maingay ang mga salamin sa bintana ng bahay  namin,” housewife Delia Mojica  of Santa Lucia, Samal town said. She said that  she awakened her children  and told them to be ready to get out of the  house.

In Sisiman, a fishing  village here, fishermen were jolted from  their sleep in big fishing  boats docked on land undergoing repairs.  “Malakas ang lindol, niyayanig ang malaking  bangka kung saan ako natutulog,” Ramon Nabaska  said, adding “hindi  naman lumakas ang mga alon.

“Umaalog ang kamarote kung saan ako natutulog, akala ko tataob ang bangka,” Ricky  Pacifico said. He said even the engine and  iron materials inside the boat were noisy.

“Matibay ang kamarote dahil kagagawa nito pero  akala ko babagsak,” he  said. Pacifico said the sea  was calm being low  tide.  Reports showed that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake  hit Morong, Bataan.
