Nueva Ecija State U, BSP team up in bolstering financial literacy

CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) teamed up with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to bolster financial literacy and understanding of the Philippine financial system’s structure, supervision, and reforms.

This partnership delivered a hybrid seminar titled “Understanding the Philippine Financial System” at NEUST Sumacab Campus’ Nieto Hall, organized by the university’s College of Management and Business Technology together with its Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) Learning and Development Unit.

Selected NEUST faculty members and non-teaching personnel from various campuses, Business Administration students, and online representatives from other universities and institutions took part in the event.

In his remarks, NEUST Vice President for Administration, Business, and Finance Bembol Castillo urged participants to value public service alongside financial awareness.

BSP Central Office Acting Deputy Director Maria Merzenaida Donovan and Bank Officer Darwin Lucela from the Supervisory Policy and Research Department presented key lectures on the Philippine financial system’s overview, supervision practices, and the BSP Financial Sector Reform Agenda.

The presentations were followed by an open forum where participants raised questions on financial awareness, decision-making, and risk protection strategies.

For her part, NEUST HRMO Head Jenna Kristel Ilustre emphasized that the seminar insights go beyond classroom learning and can be applied to daily responsibilities.
