SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ (PIA) — The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) is showcasing its rich history and cultural heritage through the newly opened Dungon: Museo de CLSU, housed in the repurposed former Public Affairs Office Building.

Named after the century-old dungon tree on campus—a symbol of endurance—the museum traces the university’s journey from its founding in 1907 to its recent milestones.

It provides a dedicated space for learning, reflection, and appreciation of the university’s legacy.

During the launch, CLSU President Evaristo Abella emphasized that the museum transcends a mere physical structure, representing the collective stories of those who shaped the institution.

Ang Dungon: Museo de CLSU ay hindi lamang gusali o lagayan ng mga lumang bagay—ito ay tahanan ng mga kuwento ng mga taong nag-ambag sa pag-unlad ng pamantasan (The Dungon: Museo de CLSU is not only a building or a storage for old things—it is a home for the stories of the people who contributed to the development of the university),” Abella stated.

Meanwhile, CLSU Presidential Assistant for Strategic Communication Maria Adrielle Estigoy highlighted the dungon tree’s symbolic role as a silent witness to the university’s history.

Ang puno ng dungon ang naging piping saksi sa kasaysayan ng ating pamantasan (The dungon tree has been a silent witness to the history of our university), and now we allow that witness to finally speak—to remind us of our roots and inspire future generations to carry forward the CLSU legacy,” Estigoy said.

Student guides from the College of Home Science and Industry led visitors on tours.

At the same time, a spoken-word poetry performance by Tanghalang Gagalaw brought the university’s history to life during the launch.

The tour culminates at the Dungon Café, where guests can enjoy coffee and browse official CLSU merchandise.

University Vice Presidents, Administrative Council members, former university President Edgar Orden, CLSU Alumni Association Incorporated board members, sector representatives, University Supreme Student Council officers, collegians, alumni, and employees attended the event.

CLSU describes the museum as “a living archive, a place where the past informs the present and inspires the innovations of tomorrow,” underscoring the university’s commitment to preserving its heritage. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
