MARIVELES, Bataan – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) announced Thursday that it will open more spaces at the Freeport Area of Bataan here not only for work but of areas where people can relax and spend more time outdoors.
Among the projects under the pipeline is a 34,000-square meter public space called the FAB Linear Park which is planned to be a long, open corridor that will introduce a greener layer to the freeport’s landscape.
AFAB administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman wants the Linear Park to serve workers and the public. “The park will be serving people who spend their days within the zone, workers on shot breaks, residents looking for a nearby open space and visitors passing through.”
“The park will provide a straightforward setting that will balance the freeport’s built-up areas with open ground and clean environment,” Pangandaman said.
Pedestrian paths, riverside seating and a dining area outdoor that are shaded with trees will rise in the park. A bike lane along the walkway is also planned for the park with spaces that will provide safe cycling.
“These features are designed to encourage movement and activity at a comfortable pace whether for short walks, small gatherings or quiet breaks,” Pangandaman continued.
The Linear Park will be a quieter counterpart and different from the freeport’s fast-moving industrial setting. (30)
