BALANGA CITY  – The Bataan bishop on Wednesday hailed Tuesday’s decision of the Supreme Court in holding indefinitely and prolonging the status quo ante order in the implementation of the Reproductive Health Law.

Bishop Ruperto C. Santos of the Diocese of Balanga said that although the ruling was good news, he still hoped that the RH Law will be completely shelved.

“We will continue to pray, to work hard para matigil na deliberations at mabasura na ang RH Law,” the prelate said.

Santos said it was very appropriate and opportune that the resolution of the high court was handed during the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. “This is a message for us to reflect and promote the value and sacredness of human life and the sanctity of marriage,” he said.

The bishop has urged the faithful during his homily in many Holy Masses in the past to protest the passage of the RH Bill.  He even led a big prayer-rally held in Balanga City last March 2011.

Santos has jurisdiction of all Catholics in 11 towns and one city. He holds office in the chancery or Cancilleria  Diocesis de Balanga located at the St. Joseph Cathedral here.
