ANGELES CITY – Two major distinctions in the 2025 Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC) have been bestowed upon this city, affirming its sustained commitment to advancing child-friendly local governance and protecting the welfare of Angeleño children.
The city was cited as a national finalist and declared regional winner for its effective institutionalization of child-centered policies, programs, and services
during the PACFMC awarding ceremony held on Dec. 22 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City with plaques of recognition conferred by the Council for the Welfare of Children and the Department of Social Welfare and Development led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II noted that the recognitions reflect the shared commitment of city offices, barangay leaders, and partner institutions working together to create a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for children.
The mayor said a major contribution to the achievement came from the city social welfare and development office which programs and technical support helped ensure the effective implementation of child-focused policies and services across the city.
He likewise acknowledged the invaluable contributions of barangay officials whose leadership at the grassroots level reinforced child-friendly initiatives, notably Barangay Sto. Domingo chair Maria Marcia Arceo, Barangay Pulung Bulu chair Lorna Zabala, Barangay Sto. Rosario chair Renato Cosme, Barangay Mining chair Lester Hernandez, and Barangay Pandan chair Cors Alejandrino.
Under the Lazatin leadership, the city government continues to strengthen initiatives that uphold children’s rights through responsive social services, multi-sectoral collaboration, and community-based interventions. Angeles CIO
