BALANGA CITY – The National Food Authority provincial office here announced on Monday that the grains agency is offering new delivery incentive fees in addition to the price of P17 per kilo of palay and a drying incentive fee.

Adelaida Nuestro, NFA provincial manager, said the delivery incentive fee depends on the distance of the farmland from the respective NFA buying station.

    From 0 – 10 kilometers, the incentive fee is P0.20 per kilo; more than 10 – 20 kms, P0.30/kilo; more than 20 – 30 kms, P0.40/kilo and more than 30 kms – upwards, P0.50/kilo.

An additional drying incentive fee of P0.20 per kilo of dry and clean palay is also given to individual farmers.

Cooperatives or farmer’s organizations benefit from a Cooperative Development Incentive Fund of P0.30 for every kilo of palay sold.

Nuestro said NFA has two buying stations in Bataan – one at the Roman Superhighway in Balanga City and another in San Ramon, Dinalupihan.

NFA also dispatches a mobile procurement team that goes around remote areas in the province.

In another development, NFA-Bataan has collected 62 bags or 450 cubic centimeters of blood from various donors during a recent blood-letting program dubbed “Dugo Mo, Sagip Buhay Ko”.

These were turned over to the provincial office of the Philippine Red Cross.

Donors came from the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army’s 24th Infantry Battalion, REACT and other civic organizations.

The NFA provincial office conducted the activity in coordination with the Bataan Grains Retailers Association and PRC.
