Market guard shoots vendor

    DINALUPIHAN, Bataan- A vendor died after he allegedly taunted and provoked a security guard to shoot him inside a stall at the public market here past 12:00 noon of Friday, police reported on Saturday.

    Carlo Quiambao, 25, of Gen. Luna, Dinalupihan was rushed to the Jose Payumo District Hospital but attending doctors declared him dead on arrival. He sustained a bullet wound from caliber .38 revolver on the left shoulder.

    Police said security guard Aldrin Velasquez, 22, of Culis, Hermosa, Bataan surrendered voluntarily.

    Senior Supt. Ricardo Zapata, Bataan police provincial director, said the security guard drew his service firearm and shot the victim once who was seated inside his stall. The victim’s stall and the pawnshop where the suspect works are adjacent to each other.

    The provincial police chief said that based on accounts of witnesses, the suspect might have been pissed by victim’s provocation to shoot him.

    The security guard who faces a criminal offense was brought for inquest at the provincial prosecutor’s office in Balanga City.
