DINALUPIHAN, Bataan- Classes were suspended Monday in all pre-elementary, elementary and high schools in both public and private schools in Dinalupihan, Bataan due to heavy rains the night before.

Fernando Manalili, Dinalupihan municipal administrator, said the suspension was per instruction of Mayor Joel Payumo due to heavy rains overnight that were expected to swell rivers and overflow in low-lying areas.

The mayor in a text message at dawn of Monday informed all district schools supervisors, principals and other school officials of the cancellation of classes.

Flash floods of from ankle- to knee-deep were already experienced in Barangays Layac, Sta. Rita, San Ramon and other villages.

From Barangay Daungan to Almacen in Hermosa town, motorized bancas are the only means of transportation because of waist-deep flood waters.

Rushing waters from the big Almacen River overflowed and flooded the village. Classes at the Almacen Elementary School were also cancelled.
