BALANGA City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) of Balanga on Wednesday held an earthquake and fire drill at the modern government-owned Bataan General Hospital (BGH).
Doctors, nurses, midwives and other health workers participated in the simulated drill supervised by CDRRMC, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and members of the Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Management.
Dr. Gloria Baltazar, BGH director, said the exercise is in preparation for any calamity that may strike, like earthquake and fire.
“As a hospital, we have to be equipped and ready for any eventuality,” she said.
“Patients” in stretchers and some in wheelchairs were taken out of wards and brought to the designated Emergency Evacuation Area where they were attended to by medical workers.
Ambulances came and went loading and transporting “patients”.
Rescue workers from the Department of Health went back and forth the wards to “save victims from fire and earthquake”.
