BALANGA City, Bataan: The Philippine Information Agency provincial office here reported Monday that super typhoon Uwan affected 15,396 families equivalent to 50,199 individuals in 11 towns and a city in Bataan.
On Monday, the province experienced intermittent light to moderate rains and once in a while moderate wind with the sun trying to outshine the bad weather.
Affected individuals in evacuation centers are 58 families in Hermosa, 379 families in Orani, 305 families in Samal, 392 families in Balanga City, 346 families in Pilar, 768 families in Orion, 635 families in Limay, 584 families in Mariveles, 11,086 families in Bagac, 423 families in Morong and 198 families in Dinalupihan.

In Abucay, the local government conducted pre-emptive evacuation starting 8:00AM Sunday in Barangay Wawa. “Doon kami sa Bakawan sa tabing dagat sa Wawa. Malaki tubig, pumapasok na sa bahay namin,”Dominga Dilig said.
Noel Basalo, head – municipal disaster risk reduction management office, said there are 231 families of 805 individuals in 10 evacuation centers in Abucay. In Barangay Wawa, there are 99 families of 323 individuals who were evacuated to the Abucay evacuation center.
“Bale ngayon kasi kaya tayo nagkaroon ng forced evacuation dahil ang mga nakatira sa mga coastal area dito sa Sitio Bakawan sa barangay Wawa sila ang nagiging affected ng storm surge,” the MDRRMO head said.
Basalo said all nine barangays in Abucay conducted pre-emptive evacuation.”Lagi nating minomonitor ang mga barangay lalo na ang mga pamilya na naapektuhan then, nagbibigay tayo ng tulong. Binibigyan natin ng mga pagkain lahat ng mga nasa evacuation centers then naghahanda na din kami ng relief operations para maibigay sa kanila
He said that they monitor the situation in every barangay to know if the residents are safe. He said that they will see if the evacuees can already go back to their homes on Tuesday.
“Ang mensahe namin na sana ay makipagtulungan ang kanilang kababayan sa mga opisyal ng pamahalaan ng Abucay. Lahat ng ibibigay namin na impormasyon at ang mga babala ay sana isa – puso nila para maiwasan ang anumang casualty dahil sa bagyong Uwan,”Basalo said.
He said that there were no report of flooding and landslide but a big tree fell in Barangay Capitangan. (30)
