CLARK FREEPORT — The NorthPhil Expo 2025 opened with a strong push for regional collaboration and sustainable tourism, bringing together stakeholders from government, tourism boards, and local enterprises to showcase investment opportunities and cultural assets across Northern Luzon.

Held from October 17 to 19 at SM City Clark’s Event Center, the three-day expo featured 59 exhibitors and carried the theme, “Championing the North, Driving Sustainable Transformation.” The event highlighted efforts to promote inclusive development, environmental responsibility, and the role of public-private partnerships in advancing tourism.

In her keynote address, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera emphasized the importance of governance in enabling long-term transformation in the sector.

“This expo shows that the private sector can lead the government, and the government must give all-out support. That should be the essence of governance nowadays,” Devanadera said.

She added that corporate good governance spells good economics, citing Clark’s recent recognition as Asia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Destination for 2025 at the 32nd World Travel Awards in Hong Kong.

“Tourism does not only entail buildings, good roads, good connections, and airplanes. Tourism, especially for the Filipino people, is the people themselves. The Philippines is known by the smile of our people, by the kindness, by the hospitality,” she said.

Joining Devanadera in the ribbon-cutting ceremony were representatives from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, the provincial governments of Tarlac and Laguna, the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, and the NorthPhil Expo organizing committee.

Participants from various regions also expressed support for the event’s goals. Maria Domitela Mora, president of the Association of Tourism Officers of Central Luzon (ATOCEL), encouraged visitors to explore the exhibits and engage with tourism stakeholders.

“Northern Luzon, but the entire Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. If you have time for the next three days here at Expo, come and visit the NorthPhil Expo 2025 from October 17 to 19. We will all be here to welcome you and have fun and love the Philippines,” Mora said.

Laguna Provincial Administrator Gerry Pelayo also extended an invitation to Kapampangans and other attendees, referencing successful tourism efforts in Candaba.

“We invite our fellow Kapampangans to visit us in Laguna. Let’s continue working together, just as we did in Candaba. Candaba became known because people truly worked hard and joined us in our efforts,” Pelayo said in Kapampangan.

The NorthPhil Expo 2025 is organized by the Association of Tourism Officers of Central Luzon (ATOCEL) in partnership with the Philippine Exhibitions and Trade Corporation (PETCO), with support from the Department of Tourism Region 3, the Tourism Promotions Board, and the Angeles City Government.
