LUBAO, Pampanga — Fur moms and dads had their pawrents’ day out with their beloved dogs and cats at the Sta. Cruz covered court here to mark World Rabies Day with free vaccinations and check-ups.

In partnership with the Department of Health, the Provincial Government of Pampanga, and the Municipality of Lubao, more than 300 pets were vaccinated against rabies, while 30 pets also underwent neuter procedure to help address the growing number of unwanted puppies and kittens.

To make the day even more special, partner pet organizations handed out free pet food.

“This program is a big help for pet owners like us. It keeps our pets healthy and safe from rabies without having to spend much,” shared Haydee Ramos, a proud fur parent from Lubao.

According to provincial veterinarian Dr. Jasmin Manlutac, the program goes beyond pet wellness—it’s about saving lives. It is part of Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda’s prevention programs, which aim not only to protect communities but also to promote the welfare of pets.

“Rabies is 100% fatal and 100% preventable. Being a responsible pet owner means knowing your pet’s needs. Puppies, for instance, require deworming and core vaccinations to stay protected,” she said.

Through initiatives like this, Pampanga reaffirms its commitment to building healthier, safer, and pet-friendly communities for both people and their four-legged companions. Pampanga PIO/Photos: Gerald Gloton
