ANGELES CITY – Neither heated confrontations nor acts of violence obtained at the start on Sept. 10 of the clearing by the city government and voluntary demolition by residents of illegally-constructed structures along the Abacan River.
The clearing was undertaken by Task Force Abacan composed of the city offices of environmental management system, environment and natural resources, human settlements and urban development, traffic development, engineer’s, police, barangay affairs and public assistance center.
Dismantled and demolished structures were those that encroached within the three-meter easement of the diversion road on the bank of the Abacan River which runs through barangays Anunas, Amsic, Sta. Teresita, Malabanias, Pampang, Ninoy Aquino, Balibago, Pulung Maragul, Pandan, Sapalibutad, and Capaya.
The city government said the Task Force Abacan operations will continue until the areas are completely cleared of illegal structures.
Along with the clearing are daily cleanup activities to maintain cleanliness and ensure the residents’ awareness of proper waste management
