BALANGA CITY – “Job security, proteksiyon sa trabaho, subsidy for displaced workers, No to BNPP.”

These are some of the issues raised by rallyists composed of workers, farmers and youngsters who marched on major streets here on Friday.

They are also opposing the reactivation of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant in Morong town.

Enrico Deldoc, spokesman of the Manggagawa para sa Kalayaan ng Bayan (Makabayan- Bataan), said there is a need to protest the sad state of labor in the country.

“Kakarampot ang kinikita ng mga manggagawa at dapat matigil ang kontraktwalisasyon,” he said.

They held a short program along one of  the busy streets of the city’s commercial district adjacent to the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal.

“Puro na lang ngiti ngunit hindi naman naaayos ang problema ng bayan,” one of the speakers said.

Deldoc said aside from work, Makabayan is demanding for additional subsidy for displaced workers, funds for displaced Overseas Filipino Workers, free education, health care program and free or low cost housing.

Aside from Makabayan, the Kilusang Pambansang Demokrasya and Nuclear Free Bataan Movement joined the Labor Day protest action.

Police manned the traffic and allowed rallyists to finish their program.
