BALANGA CITY- Street dancers in colorful bird-like costumes on Saturday afternoon contributed more festive mood as this city is about to celebrate its fiesta this coming Tuesday.
The dancers wore gears similar to migratory birds like black-winged stilt, black-headed gull and other water birds that flock the city from October to March and sometimes up to April.
After parading along the major streets of the city, they held an exhibition at the fully-packed giant Bataan People’s Center. Gov. Enrique Garcia attended the affair and clapped with the audience in every presentation.
The city government headed by Mayor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III has focused on the promotion of bird-watching after the Department of Tourism included Balanga among the 13 bird-watching sites in the country.
The International Bird Festival will be held in the City of Balanga in October this year.
