DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Police on Friday maintained its usual checkpoints to conduct anti-holdup campaigns and loose firearms inspections and to inspect motorcycle riders, especially those riding in tandem.

Sr. Insp. Elmer Santiago, Hermosa police chief, said the presence of police officers in various checkpoints set in Layac and other parts of Bataan Friday should not be construed as means of blocking the travel of rallyists or sympathizers to the anti-Charter Change rally in Makati, if any, from the province.

“Pangkaraniwan itong ginagawa ng pulisya araw-araw sa utos ng aming provincial police director na si Senior Supt. Manuel Gaerlan upang patuloy na magkaroon ng katahimikan sa Bataan,” the police chief said.

Members of the police provincial mobile group augment the police force manning the checkpoint in Layac, here.

Santiago pointed to passenger buses and other vehicles bound for Metro Manila that freely passed the police checkpoints unhampered.

In Balanga City, police have also set up various checkpoints to inspect vehicles and motorcycle riders.
