HERMOSA, Bataan: Two female tricycle passengers died while the tricycle driver and another female passenger were injured during the pickup – tricycle collision along the Roman Superhighway in Barangay Palihan here early morning of Saturday.
Major Winston Norte, Hermosa police chief, said both vehicles were travelling towards Orani, Bataan and upon reaching the place of incident, the pickup hit the rear portion of the tricycle which was travelling ahead.
The pickup, the police chief said, pushed the tricycle forward that rammed on the electric posts together with the occupants.
As a result of the impact, two of the tricycle passengers were declared dead on arrival at the Jose Payumo Memorial Hospital in Dinalupihan, Bataan while the driver and another passenger were hospitalized , Norte said.
The pickup driver was placed under the custody of the Hermosa municipal police station for further investigation, documentation and proper disposition.
The dead were brought in two funeral parlors in Dinalupihan. The family of one of the fatalities begged off to be interviewed while the family of the other was still not available.
REACT Hero Group Deputy Jeje Ramos said they were awakened by a loud noise near their house.
“Bumaba kami, nakita nga namin bale yong isang babae nakahandusay diyan at ang isang lalaki nakahandusay din diyan. Tumawag na kami ng mga pulis palibhasa umagang- umaga pa noon yong isa noong tinignan namin kung okay pa ang isang lalaki ang una naming dinala sa ospital.
“May mga sugat pero mga mild lang injury pero noong tinanong namin sila kanina yong lalaki wala siyang maalaala. Bale apat silang lahat, driver, backride, tapos dalawang babae nga. Ang dalawang babae patay,” Ramos said.
