FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY – The number of soldiers hurt in the encounter in Dupax del Sur rose to 11, three of whom had “major injuries” as hot pursuit operations are still on going as of press time, the military said.

1Lt. Catherine Hapin, information officer of the 7th Infantry Division, said that the wounded soldiers who belong to the 84th IB were brought to a hospital in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. No one was killed from the government troopers as fatality in the NPA side remains one, she said.

Soldiers recovered from the slain rebel one hand grenade, an M16 rifl e, medical kits and subversive documents, said Hapin.

The clash occurred when the Army troopers responded to information from “concerned citizens” regarding the presence and alleged activities of a huge group of armed men in the area, the military reported.
