CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — The municipal government of Talavera in Nueva Ecija received two Kadiwa trucks from the Department of Agriculture (DA) under the Enhanced Kadiwa Program.

This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitments outlined in his 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) to boost agricultural production and provide direct support to farmers and fisherfolk across the country.

Coinciding with the turnover of two Kadiwa trucks by the Department of Agriculture, the municipal government of Talavera in Nueva Ecija launches the “Gulayan Program: Taniman ng Kinabukasan” which encourages every barangay, school, and household to plant vegetables. (Talavera LGU)

“Pinataas natin ang produksyon ng palay, mais, pinya, saging, mangga, kape, cacao, calamansi, tubo, sibuyas, bawang, at iba pang mga agricultural products. Mula nagsimula itong Administrasyon, mahigit walo at kalahating milyong magsasaka at mangingisda ang nakatanggap ng tulong,” he stated.

Marcos added that the government will further strengthen programs to reach and help more Filipinos.

In a statement, Mayor Aries Gaboy Lim noted that the Kadiwa trucks will serve as dedicated transport vehicles for smallholder farmers, enabling them to deliver their fresh produce directly to markets without relying on middlemen.

“Sa ating mga minamahal na magsasaka—ito po ay hindi lamang proyekto ng gobyerno. Ito po ay tagumpay ninyo,” Lim stated.

The local chief executive expressed his gratitude to the President and DA for their concrete support to farmers.

This strategy is expected to lower transportation costs, increase farmers’ incomes, and strengthen direct market access for local produce.

The Municipal Agriculture Office will oversee the implementation of this program by establishing guidelines, scheduling systems, and maintenance protocols to ensure operational efficiency.

The turnover ceremony also highlighted the launch of the “Gulayan Program: Taniman ng Kinabukasan,” which encourages every barangay, school, and household to plant vegetables.

It promotes food availability, supports family nutrition, and enhances livelihood and food security through backyard and community gardening. (CLJD/CNG, PIA 3-Nueva Ecija)
