APALIT, Pampanga — “Napakalaking tulong po na may murang bigas na mabibili. Sana po magtuloy-tuloy ito at makabili rin ang lahat.”
A grateful and hopeful Belen de Leon of Barangay San Juan said after her purchase of 10 kilos of rice at P20 per kilo from a Kadiwa ng Pangulo pop-up store set at the town hall compound here on July 30.
The Benteng Bigas, Meron Na has rolled out fulfilling the promise of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to decrease the price of rice to P20 per kilo.
The day’s stock of 10,000 kilos of rice was sold out.
“Maraming salamat po sa presidente po natin. Malaking tulong ito para sa mga taong walang pambili ng bigas at mahihirap.”
A sincere appreciation of the efforts of Marcos Jr. to alleviate the suffering of the poor was expressed by Benjamin Maun of Barangay San Agustin, Sta. Ana town who lined up at the Sta. Ana town hall, as early as 7 a.m., joining 1,000 other residents availing themselves of the “benteng bigas.”
A significant saving, compared to the regular P50 per kilo price, that can go a long way in buying some other needed essentials, Maun added.
At the initiative of Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, the implementation of Benteng Bigas, Meron Na is jointly coordinated by the offices of the provincial agriculturist, provincial treasurer’s, provincial employment services, and general services. Pampanga PIO/Photos: Daniel Ombina, Gerald Gloton
