The war within us

IN MOMENTS of quiet, I find myself wondering – why are there wars? Are these battles only between nations, or are they reflections of the conflicts within us?
So many of us walk through life behind masks, shielding from old wounds that never healed, memories of rejection, betrayals, and shame that quietly shaped – how we love, speak, relate, and see the world.
We live in an era of extraordinary connection. Technology allows us to reach anyone, anywhere, at any time. And yet, paradoxically, many of us feel more disconnected than ever – from ourselves, from one another, and from what truly matters.
Our attention is fragmented, nervous systems overstimulated. sense of identity and belonging weakens – make us drift further from the stillness of our inner truth.
We scroll endlessly, speak constantly, and react quickly – yet rarely pause to feel, to reflect, or to truly connect. We know more, but we feel less. To lose connection with the self may be the greatest tragedy of mankind.
When we are at war within ourselves, that unrest spills into the world. A wounded leader may inflict the same to reach for power. A restless mind may lash out in judgment. What begins as a conversation becomes a battleground. Silence becomes a weapon. Distance becomes a wall.
So how do we stop the war within? Through awareness, presence and kindness – to ourselves and to others.
We must begin to mend the parts of ourselves we’ve long ignored – in pursuit of recognition, material gain, and false power.
Slow down. Give yourself the chance to breathe and feel alive once more. More importantly – create a space for silence. For in silence, we hear more – and the answers we’ve been searching for – surface.
Every uncertainty we face today is created by humankind alone. The land stays steady – it does not go to war. The oceans remain within their bounds – they do not create conflict. We have the power to unmake what was never meant to be.
To heal the world, we must self-heal first.
And in doing so, we may come to remember why we were even at war in the first place.
Perhaps we simply want to be seen, to be heard, to be cared for, to be appreciated.
True peace begins with the courage to look within – no matter what it takes – and to choose love, over and over again.
Namaste.
