Mayor Yap sets Tarlac direction in first flag rites

TARLAC CITY – Department heads, employees and staff of the city government of Tarlac warmly welcomed Mayor Susan Yap in her first flag raising ceremony held at the convention center of the Tarlac City Plazuela, July 7.

The mayor was likewise accorded by the Tarlac Police Provincial Office, led by director Col. Miguel Guzman and Tarlac City chief of police Lt. Col. Rommel Santos arrival honors.

“I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Today’s flag ceremony marks not only our deep respect for the Philippine flag but also the beginning of a new chapter in our city’s journey—one that will bring a purposeful mission to long-lasting solutions and one that prioritizes responsiveness to the needs of every Tarlaqueño,” said Yap in her speech.

She presented direction for the city and vowed to address long-standing issues in the city. “This morning, let me allow me to take this opportunity to lay out our main goals and direction. This term will be filled with many changes…not just surface-level changes, nosy just cosmetic, but systemic, internal reforms that will address long-standing issues in our city. We will fix what’s inside so we can fix what’s outside because transformation, my fellow public servants, begins from within.”

Yap also discussed the city hall’s organizational structure and pattern, the status of the Tarlac City General Hospital and health centers, the traffic situation, the controversial state of public markets, garbage collection and the vetoed city government budget.

Monday’s flag rites likewise saw the launching of the official “basura jingle” of city hall titled “Linis Trak—Serbisyong MaYap”.

Tarlac Gov. Christian Tell Yap, the mayor’s son, attended the flag raising and delivered his own message.

After the ceremony, the mayor met with some barangay captains to discuss several issues more particularly the budget vetoed by the previous administration. She similarly led the medicine distribution and attended the financial aid distribution to Tarlac city senior citizens and day care workers. Press release
