Sen. Mriam Defensor-Santiago said is cooking a plot to oust President Aquino from office but warned Malacanang to be “sensitive” to the people’s sentiments.
At the sidelines of his talk with students that sit as trustees and regents of state universities in the country called
Student Trustees and Regents Union of the Philippines (STRUP) Friday afternoon, Cayetano also asked the Department of Health to undertake a check on the “mass amnesia epidemic” that hit government officials on the bloody Mamasapano operation.
“Ang problema kasi sa Pilipinas, marami nang rich man,” Cayetano said when asked if he already has an idea of the rich man who allegedly funds the coup plot against the Aquino administration.
That people or forces who want Aquino out of Malacanang banding together is a part of democracy, the senator said. “Pero ibang usapan na pag coup d’etat,” he added.
And government stability is a day-by-day business, he stressed.
“I mean, wala namang Filipino na gusto ng gulo pero wala rin namang Filipino na gustong hindi ipinaglalaban ang kanyang mga karapatan.
Ang stability ng gobyerno day by day yan so I think naman it’s stable, people believe in decmocracy hindi dapat magkaroon ng coup d’etat pero ang Malacanang ay kailangang maging sensitive din sa nararamdaman at pangangailangan ng tao,” Cayetano explained.
Cayetano, meanwhile admitted, that the MILF got his ire during the Senate investigation on the massacre of 44
members of the police’s Special Action Force (SAF) in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last Jan. 25. Scores were also wounded during the “mis-encounter.”
“Tama ba naman na makipag-peace talk ka tapos bawat galaw mo pag di ka sumunod, giyera? Tama ba naman na ang hinahanap mo ay terorista ang isusukli sa’yo, bala sa ulo at pagpapatayin yung mga kasama mo,” he said.
The people should understand, he said, that Marwan was an international terrorist. “Si Marwan ay isang high level na international terorist. Siya ba ay magtatago sa kuta ng MILF kung sa tingin niya ay di siya safe don? So pa’no ka ba namang hindi magagalit kasi ginagawa tayong istupido eh. Ginagawa tayong parang tanga, na alam na alam natin na pinrotektahan si Marwan, pinatay ang ating mga alagad ng batas tapos wala man lang remorse sa kanila. Sasabihin nakikiramay kami, thank you, e nasan yung justice? Nasan yung mga pumatay? Nasan yung imbestigasyon niyo? “ Cayetano said.
He noted that Marwan stayed for long in the former residence of a top MILF commander who presently lives barely half kilometer from the place.
“Controlled area nila ‘yun tapos sasabihin nila ay hindi nila kilala si Marwan. Siguro naman po ay maiintindihan ng ating mga kababayan, sorry, we weren’t born yesterday. Huwag niyo kaming lokohin,” he added.
On government officials who refused to detail the operation, Cayetano said the country is now plagued with a mass amnesia epidemic.
“’Yun ang dapat tingnan na bagong epidemic ng DOH mass amnesia. Nung dumating sa pananagutan na, nung side ng gobyerno ay nagka-amnesia lahat,” he said, adding, however, that the people also be reminded that the root of the incident is the MILF’s supposed coddling of a terrorist.
