CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — The Department of Health (DOH) Central Luzon Center for Health Development (CLCHD) is urging the public to adopt preventive measures against dengue, especially during the rainy season.

DOH CLCHD Entomologist Jeffrey De Guzman explained that dengue can be prevented through the daily 4Ts habit— “Taob, Taktak, Tuyo at Takip” at four o’clock in the afternoon to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

He warned that dengue symptoms such as high fever, rashes, vomiting, and body pain may lead to severe complications or even death if not addressed promptly.

Moreover, DOH CLCHD reminds the public that having had dengue once does not make a person immune, since the virus has four types and reinfection with a different type is possible.

De Guzman clarified that dengue is not contagious through saliva, sneezing, or physical contact, and only female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes transmit the virus.

DOH CLCHD also highlighted its initiatives including fast lanes in hospitals, free rapid tests in rural health units, and enhanced PhilHealth coverage to reduce the burden of dengue treatment. (CLJD/MCAL, PIA Region 3- Nueva Ecija GIP)
