BALER, Aurora (PIA) — The Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91st IB) has facilitated the enrollment of nine students from families of former rebels in Aurora through its scholarship program.

The scholars are enrolled across various academic levels, from Grade 8 to college courses such as Tourism Management and Criminology.

91st IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Julito Recto Jr. said the scholarship program reflects the government’s commitment to promoting peace and development through education.

“With the latest batch, a total of 21 scholars—comprising former rebels and their dependents—are now benefiting from the program.” Recto disclosed.

The scholars will receive full coverage of tuition, miscellaneous, and other school-related fees.

The program also extends to dependents of active soldiers and members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit.

“This program ensures that former rebels and their families are given meaningful opportunities to rebuild their lives,” Recto said.

Meanwhile, the government, through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, continues to support former rebels and their families as they reintegrate into society.

Support includes livelihood aid, financial assistance, and skills training to help them build sustainable and productive lives. (CLJD/MAT, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
