RIZAL, Nueva Ecija – An alleged member of robbery gang was killed by four unidentified suspects while walking home in Barangay Estrella here over the weekend.
The victim was identified as Benigno Fernando, 46, married and resident of the said village.
Investigator PO3 Marlon Concepcion said the victim, along with a certain Renato Leonardo, 53, emerged from a drinking spree and on their way home when waylaid by four people and without a word shot him on the lower part of his body.
Fernando was rushed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Hospital in San Jose City, police said, but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Follow up investigation, according to Concepcion, showed that Fernando was tagged in a series of Akyat Bahay activities in his own village and in nearby towns of Bongabon and Gen. Natividad.
“The victim is allegedly a member of “pito-pito gang involved in Akyat Bahay and robbery activities,” Concepcion reported.
Probers recovered from the crime scene one fired cartridge of Cal. 45 that was turned over to the Nueva Ecija police crime laboratory for further test.
