IBA, Zambales (PIA) — Re-elected 2nd District Representative Doris “Bing” Maniquiz is set to prioritize grassroots-centered legislative measures in the 20th Congress, focusing on education, labor benefits, and community-based support systems to enhance the quality of life in Zambales.

Maniquiz was proclaimed winner of the congressional race after securing 173,074 votes or 68.41 percent in the May 2025 National and Local Elections, defeating former Representative Cheryl Deloso-Montalla, who garnered 79,928 votes or 31.59 percent.

As she begins her second term, Maniquiz vowed to refile and advocate for five key measures aimed at expanding educational access, improving worker welfare, and delivering stronger support at the barangay level.

“I will refile the bills, especially those providing free Technical Education and Skills Development Authority assessments for senior high school students enrolled in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track, as well as free tuition for government employees—including contractual and casual staff—who pursue master’s or doctoral degrees,” she said.

She also plans to pursue the institutionalization of two weeks of paid paternity leave and five days of bereavement leave for employees in both the public and private sectors.

In addition, Maniquiz seeks to provide barangay health workers with access to Government Service Insurance System benefits, ensuring social protection for grassroots healthcare frontliners.

A significant item on her legislative agenda is the establishment of a “School of the Future” in Zambales, which aims to deliver holistic education by integrating academics with training in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and sports.

Since entering Congress in 2022, Maniquiz has led efforts to expand Tingog Centers—community hubs that facilitate the delivery of national government services and assistance programs in every municipality of the 2nd District.

She expressed gratitude to House Speaker Martin Romualdez for supporting initiatives that bring national resources to local communities, and said she would continue working to ensure government assistance reaches even the most remote barangays.

Maniquiz also extended her thanks to all who continue to support her platform of love and compassion, which she said remains the foundation of her public service. (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
