CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – “Kalaraman pu ini at pamanlinlang. (All this is a lie and deception).”
Thus, the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Fernando called the disinformation being spread across the city that it denied the request of Mayor Vilma Caluag’s Team Laban San Fernando for the use of the church patio for their “meeting (sic) de avance” on May 10.
“The truth is, one Mercy M. Pineda, campaign manager of Team Laban San Fernando, wrote the cathedral rector “requesting your permission to utilize your parking area during the event for the proper accommodation of our supporters” with the condition that they will be “responsible for any damage that may occur within the use of the parking space from 6:30 pm to 10 pm.”
The letter added that Team Laban San Fernando “commits” to the repair, restore, or replace any damage “at our own cost” and promised “to exercise proper discipline, coordination, and respect” for church property and schedule.”
The Metropolitan Cathedral approved the request – “Permission is granted based on the commitment as stated above” appearing as marginal note on the request.
On May 7, Jlieann Bondoc, secretary at the cathedral office, received a call from one Nene Gopez, representing Team Laban San Fernando, saying the “meeting (sic) de avance” had been cancelled “for security reasons.”
“After the cancellation, the lie that the cathedral rector did not give permission for the use of the church patio spread. This is contradictory to the real reason of the cancellation that came from (Team Laban San Fernando) itself,” the Metropolitan Cathedral said.
“Ali ta ya sana paburen mangalat kalaraman i Satanas! At pawa mung katutwan ing parati tamung ipamalita (Let us not allow Satan to spread lies! And only subscribe to Truth in all our communications).”
The Metropolitan Cathedral of San Fernando exhorted the public in a notice it issued in clarification to what it called lies being spread in the city. Punto News Team.
