CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) ensures the public of a stable and reliable power supply during the 2025 National and Local Elections.

NGCP Government Relations and Regional Affairs Lead Specialist Arth Sinobago said the company has suspended non-critical maintenance and construction activities from May 5 to 16, 2025, in compliance with Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10999 and 11055.

“Maintenance works and construction activities inside our substations and within 300 meters of energized power lines are suspended and all transition lines were cleared of vegetation and obstruction as of April 30,” he disclosed during the Leaders In Focus Election Special of the Philippine Information Agency Central Luzon.

He added that the NGCP has also completed several preparatory projects across its service areas to ensure reliable power delivery during the election period.

In North Luzon District 6, covering the provinces of Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, and Bulacan, the company reconductored 45 structures along the Mexico–Pao segment of the Mexico–Calumpit 69 kV line from March 20 to April 12.

This upgrade addresses overloading issues and prevents manual load dropping in areas served by PELCO 3, including Pao, Macabebe, Masantol, and Balite.

Additionally, the NGCP replaced 38 deteriorated wood poles along the Cabanatuan–San Luis 69 kV line from April 4 to 23, and replaced rusting insulators on 42 structures along the Poblacion Sur–Kaingin line segment.

These improvements ensure continued power service for key substations under NEECO II Area 1 and 2, and AURELCO’s San Luis and Maria Aurora substations.

To further enhance election-related power security, NGCP will also activate 24/7 operations of its Overall Command Center from May 11 until 8:00 PM of May 14, 2025.

This will ensure real-time monitoring of transmission operations, with critical units such as System Operations and Operations and Maintenance fully staffed.

Line crews, engineers, pilots, and maintenance and testing, and other technical personnel are strategically positioned in substations to respond to emergencies.

Power Task Force Elections, a special team formed to ensure the security and reliability of the transmission network across the country during the elections, already set out with preparatory activities as early as February this year.

The NGCP is also reminding the public to avoid hazardous activities near power lines, such as burning or planting under transmission lines, to ensure the smooth flow of electricity throughout the election period.

It encourages the public to conserve electricity, particularly during the summer season, to help maintain a stable power supply.

The company remains dedicated to supporting the smooth and reliable conduct of the 2025 National and Local Elections by ensuring a stable and uninterrupted power supply.

For reports or incidents that may affect power infrastructure, the public may contact 0917-847-6427 or 0918-847-6427.  (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
