BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The province of Bataan continues to lead in grassroots governance, as four of its villages secured top honors in the 2025 Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) at the regional level.

Bataan’s barangays earned recognition across several categories, affirming the province’s commitment to effective and community-based conflict resolution.

In the Component City Category, Barangay Cupang Proper in Balanga City emerged as the Regional Winner. Barangay Bilolo in Orion claimed 1st Runner-Up in the 2nd Class Municipality Category.

Barangay Omboy in Abucay took the top spot as Regional Winner in the 3rd Class Municipality Category, while Barangay Sta. Lucia in Samal earned the same distinction in the 4th Class Municipality Category.

Barangays Cupang Proper, Omboy, and Sta. Lucia will now represent Central Luzon in the LTIA national competition, showcasing Bataan’s best practices and commitment to peacebuilding on a larger stage.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Belina Herman congratulated the winning barangays, emphasizing that their achievements reflect the dedication of barangay officials, Lupon members, and the communities they serve.

“We also commend the regional, provincial, and field offices of Abucay, Balanga City, Orion, and Samal for their unwavering support and guidance, which significantly contributed to the outstanding performance of these Lupons,” Herman added.

The LTIA was established to recognize local governments that demonstrate excellence in settling disputes at the grassroots level, reinforcing the vital role of barangays in promoting peace, justice, and order within their communities. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
