CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Police officers on April 28 started casting their ballots at the Pampanga Police Provincial Office, having been designated by the Commission on Elections as precinct for local absentee voting (LAV).

Pampanga police director Jay C. Dimaandal awas one of the early voters among   the 397 personnel approved to participate in the LAV. Of the total, 202 voters are assigned at Pampanga PPO; 75 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3; 32 from Angeles City Police Office; 55 from the Police Regional office 3 headquarters; and 33 from various national support units.

The voting period runs from April 28 to 30, with voting hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The voting venue is at the multi-purpose covered court inside the Pampanga PPO headquarters.

Under the LAV program, participants are allowed to vote for national positions only — 12 Senators, and one Party-List group.

LAV is intended for personnel who, due to election-related duties or media coverage responsibilities, are unable to vote in their place of registration on election day.

Dimaandal emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote, even while on duty.  “Our commitment to public service should not hinder us from fulfilling our civic duties. Through the Local Absentee Voting program, we ensure that every officer’s voice is heard in shaping the future of our nation.”

He also lauded the orderly conduct of the voting process and encouraged all participating personnel to make full use of the opportunity provided by the Comelec. PPPO-PR
